DAYHA Mission Statement
DAYHA is a non-profit corporation formed with the intent to promote the growth of ice hockey in the Durango area and to provide the best possible experience for all participants by encouraging, developing, advancing and administering the sport.
Schedule and Conduct Board Meetings

Orders and manages loaner jerseys and extra socks for sale
Manages equipment inventory and works with Pure Hockey rep on all orders for the organization (coaching equipment, pucks, pinnies, loaner goalie gear, practice jerseys)
Manages rewards points, gift cards and cash back (according to our agreement with Pure Hockey) to use in the best interest of the entire program ○ Reports all rewards, cash back, gift card transactions and receipts to the treasurer for audit purposes
Liaison between CAHA registrar and association
Attend CAHA registrar training each season for updates
Ensure our association is adhering to all CAHA/USA Hockey rules
Maintain USA Hockey Portal for association
Track all volunteers safesport and background screening requirements.
Track all coaching requirements and report to the director 4 DAYHA Handbook
Generate official USAH rosters for Teams
Coordinate with secretary to keep sports engine rosters in sync with USAH rosters
Team Manager Coordinator
Communicate CAHA manager training, required paperwork
Assist with managers as needed - contact information, roster links/labels, travel permits, scorekeeping training, entering games, etc.
Understand all tournament, league and CAHA roster rules (i.e. double rostering, deadlines for submission, deadlines for drops/adds).
Coordinate with the treasurer to register and pay for all tournaments.
Support team tryouts - assist secretary as needed

Maintain all association official records - Minutes, By-Laws, Policies
Assign permissions for website access

On-Ice Liaison and Scheduler: Alex Kleman (Voting position)
Liaison with hockey director, rink and the board
Supports director with scheduling and maintaining master schedule for all teams

Maintains the online sports engine calendar - inputs all the team schedules, games, and keeps the calendar accurate. Secretary may help as needed.
Assists director on-ice as needed
Monitor concussion/injury protocol
Work with secretary to communicate concussion baseline screening every season
Treasurer: Tracy Daniels (Voting position)
Monthly reports to the Board
Facilitates creation of budgets and provides updates
Financial record keeping in Quickbooks Online - AR/AP, annual reports
Works with accountant, Tamara Bronson, on annual tax prep, 1099’s
Manages financial information and reports in SportsEngine
Manages Venmo account
Annual renewal and weekly check of Post Office Box

Fundraising/Media Director: Tanya Clegg (Voting position)
Responsible for Constant Contact and sends provided communication to membership
Manages monthly newsletter (content provided by director and board)
Create marketing materials and flyers
Owns fundraising calendar
Owns sponsorship packages and advertising to new sponsors
Works with the City on communication (parks and rec guide, etc.)
Manages Chamber calendar and events
Admin access to Facebook and social media accounts
Oversees Committee(s) and recruits volunteers with Members-at-Large
For community events (i.e. Snowdown Parade)
End of year banquet
Mite Program Manager: Jason Meininger (Non voting position)
Oversees the Mites program
Coordinates Mile High Mites and Try Hockey For Free registrations/events
Tracks new registrations & payments with treasurer
Tracks loaner gear inventory and needs with equipment manager
Tracks Mite jersey inventory and needs with equipment manager
Communication with Mites parents and families
Frequently available at the rink to answer questions
Coordinate travel to Mite Tournament(s) and registration/payments
Job Descriptions & Committees
All important roles need to be covered in order to ensure the continued growth and success of the organization, but may be relegated to one or more board members as the board sees fit. DAYHA Board Member elections are to an unassigned Director position. The annual general election process is used to determine who the new Board Members are, as chosen by the membership. Following the election, a special meeting is conducted where the Board Members decide on officers and assignments for the coming year. Officers shall be considered members of the Board. The officers of this Association, as outlined in the DAYHA By-Laws, shall be:
The Member At-Large is primarily responsible for Fundraising for DAYHA, including the collection of all funds and ensuring they are delivered to and accounted for by the Treasurer. Ideally, these duties will be carried out by several committees overseen by the Member At-Large and supported by all Board Members and Appointees. This position does not have a vote.
The Board may appoint an individual or establish committees to carry out Board directives that may include but are not limited to: Recruitment and Retention, Crossbar Coordinator, Web Administration, Coaches Coordinator, Scheduling Coordinator, Injury Prevention/Education, Tournament Director, Official Coordinator, Manager Liaison, Equipment Coordinator. Any Board Appointed person or committees are not voting members of the Board.
DAYHA Board of Directors Duties
ALL voting members are expected to attend ALL board meetings, missing multiple meetings may result in removal from the board.
How many board members does DAYHA have?
For the current 2022-2023 season we have 7 voting members and 5 members at large (non-voting members).
How are board members elected?
Board members are voted in by the membership in the spring. Interested candidates can apply to be put on the ballot in March by sending an interest letter to the DAYHA Secretary.
How long are the board terms?
A board member serves 2 years and can go up for re-election for another 2 year term
When are the board meetings?
The board meets once a month all year long. The meetings are posted on our website at www.durangohockey.org on the calendar.
Can non-board members attend these meetings?
Yes, the board meetings are open to members. We allow time at the beginning of the meeting for introduction for guests to the meeting. Guests can speak during the open comment period during the meeting. If you have an issue, project, idea that you would like to address at a board meeting, please email the secretary to be put on the agenda in advance.
