Understand all tournament, league and CAHA roster rules (i.e. double rostering, deadlines for submission, deadlines for drops/adds).

Coordinate with the treasurer to register and pay for all tournaments.

Job Descriptions & Committees

All important roles need to be covered in order to ensure the continued growth and success of the organization, but may be relegated to one or more board members as the board sees fit. DAYHA Board Member elections are to an unassigned Director position. The annual general election process is used to determine who the new Board Members are, as chosen by the membership. Following the election, a special meeting is conducted where the Board Members decide on officers and assignments for the coming year. Officers shall be considered members of the Board. The officers of this Association, as outlined in the DAYHA By-Laws, shall be:

Member At-Large:

The Member At-Large is primarily responsible for Fundraising for DAYHA, including the collection of all funds and ensuring they are delivered to and accounted for by the Treasurer. Ideally, these duties will be carried out by several committees overseen by the Member At-Large and supported by all Board Members and Appointees. This position does not have a vote.

Board Appointees/Committees

The Board may appoint an individual or establish committees to carry out Board directives that may include but are not limited to: Recruitment and Retention, Crossbar Coordinator, Web Administration, Coaches Coordinator, Scheduling Coordinator, Injury Prevention/Education, Tournament Director, Official Coordinator, Manager Liaison, Equipment Coordinator. Any Board Appointed person or committees are not voting members of the Board.

DAYHA Board of Directors Duties

ALL voting members are expected to attend ALL board meetings, missing multiple meetings may result in removal from the board.

Board Information

How many board members does DAYHA have?

For the current 2022-2023 season we have 7 voting members and 5 members at large (non-voting members).

How are board members elected?

Board members are voted in by the membership in the spring. Interested candidates can apply to be put on the ballot in March by sending an interest letter to the DAYHA Secretary.

How long are the board terms?

A board member serves 2 years and can go up for re-election for another 2 year term

When are the board meetings?

The board meets once a month all year long. The meetings are posted on our website at www.durangohockey.org on the calendar.

Can non-board members attend these meetings?

Yes, the board meetings are open to members. We allow time at the beginning of the meeting for introduction for guests to the meeting. Guests can speak during the open comment period during the meeting. If you have an issue, project, idea that you would like to address at a board meeting, please email the secretary to be put on the agenda in advance.
