Penalty Box & Locker Room Attendants

Every team will need a penalty box volunteer for every game. Every team also needs a locker room attendant before and after practices. Typically, coaches fill this role, but there are instances where we will ask parents to help with the locker room supervision.

This role can be filled by a parent or caregiver who has completed the following 3 steps. The background check can take a few weeks to clear, so we encourage you to start this process as early as possible.

DAYHA could not operate without volunteers and we greatly appreciate your time.

Upon completion of these 3 steps, please inform the Registrar and your Team Manager.

USA Hockey Registration: Free for Volunteers. Annual registration. You will receive an electronic copy of your registration from USA Hockey. Email your USA Hockey # to our Registrar.

USA Hockey Background Screen: $30. You must submit a new background screening every two years. If you are unsure if you need to complete it, please ask the Registrar. Please allow for at least two weeks for your background screening to clear. You will not be able to be placed on a roster or coach until the screening is complete. We recommend completing your screening by August 1st to allow enough time for it to clear. USA Hockey has already entered your self-registration ID number on the first page of the screen. You do not need to change this number. 

USA Hockey SafeSport Certification: Free. A 90-minute video with tests. This certification is good for 1 season to the date of completion. The SafeSport Training and Refresher Training are each valid for one (1) season beginning on 4/1/19. Safesport is now a yearly requirement and consists of a core course followed by three refresher courses. Every fourth year one must take the core course again.
