2023-2024 Durango Ice Devils tryouts for Durango Area Youth Hockey Association (DAYHA) teams will be held at Chapman Hill Ice Rink beginning on April 3rd. Each age group will have 2 tryouts dates to evaluate players for all DAYHA teams.
There is no tryout fee, however all players must register online to attend tryouts.
Tryouts for 2023-2024 season are required for all players with birth years 2009 to 2014. Players should plan on participating in both tryout sessions. At the Director's discretion, players may be moved up or down based on ability and skills. Any questions regarding tryouts please contact Erin Lopez.

10U-Squirts: age 9 & 10 (2013-2014)
12U- Peewee: age 11 & 12 (2011-2012)
14U- Bantam: age 13 & 14 (2009-2010)

Team practices: 3x/week

Dryland practice: varies by team
Typically, for these ages, practices are held in the evenings between 5-8pm, with some variation.
Teams will play 20-30 games over the course of the season and will usually fall on the weekends.
Travel is expected. If a player cannot travel to a game because of an injury, sickness, or other reason, please contact the coach asap.
Example of possible travel locations: Gunnison, Telluride, Albuquerque, Flagstaff, Grand Junction, Vail, Breckenridge, Salt Lake City, Denver, & Colorado Springs.
Club jerseys are required and may be purchased through PureHockey.
Team socks are also needed and can be ordered with jerseys, or separately at any time.

All practices, jamboree games, friendly games, and DAYHA scheduled tournaments are included in registration.
*Tournaments that your team chooses to participate in beyond DAYHA scheduled tournaments may require an additional fee to be split between all team players. (Tournaments typically run $1000-2000 per team)
DAYHA requires a black helmet, black breezers/pants, and black gloves for this program.

What equipment is needed? Can we borrow equipment?
All players will need the following equipment:
● black helmet (stickers other than regulation stickers and player numbers should be removed from helmets)
● mouth guard
● shoulder pads
● elbow pads
● black breezers
● black gloves
● shin pads
● team socks (these can be purchased through your team manager)
● team jersey (these can be purchased through your team manager)
● water bottle
● Other equipment: equipment bag, jock strap, neck guard.
Yes, we will have limited equipment that can be borrowed. There is also a swap at the beginning of each season for parents to collect used gear. We encourage you to hold onto any used gear and bring it to the swap on opening day in October.
