Season Information


24-25 Birth Years:

Rec: age 9 - 12 (2014-2013)

10U - Squirts: age 9 & 10 (2014-2015)

12U - Peewee: age 11 & 12 (2012-2013)

14U - Bantam: age 13 & 14 (2010-2011)


October - March is our regular season.

Clinics are generally offered in early October and late March, these do incur additional costs.

Evaluations typically occur in late March or early April.

10U team practice: 2x/week

12U, 14U, & Girls team practice: 3x/week

Goalie practice: 1x/week

Dryland practice: varies by team

Typically, for these ages, practices are held in the evenings between 5-8pm, with some variation.


Travel Teams will play 20-30 games over the course of the season and will usually fall on the weekends.

Travel is expected. If a player cannot travel to a game because of an injury, sickness, or other reason, please contact the coach asap.

Example of possible travel locations: Gunnison, Telluride, Albuquerque, Flagstaff, Grand Junction, Vail, Breckenridge, Salt Lake City, Denver, & Colorado Springs.

Rec Team may play 1-3 weekends over the course of the winter. These weekends require additional fees. Your coach and/or team manager will be your primary contact for these questions.

Club jerseys are required and may be purchased through PureHockey.

Team socks are also needed and can be ordered with jerseys, or separately at any time.

Complete jersey package may cost around $200. Players usually have their jersey for at least two year before needing to size up. For ordering, please contact Lou Tocco (director@durangohockey.org).

Extra Costs

All practices, jamboree games, friendly games, and DAYHA 1-2 regular season tournaments plus 1 end-of-season tournament are included in travel team registration.

*Tournaments that your team chooses to participate in beyond DAYHA scheduled tournaments may require an additional fee to be split between all team players. (Tournaments typically run $2,000 per team)


USAH requires neck guards for all player starting 8/1/2024.

Mouth guards are required at all times on the ice.

DAYHA requires a black helmet, black breezers/pants, and black gloves for this program.


The intent of our scholarship program is to off-set a member’s registration fee. The exact number and amount awarded is contingent upon the success of the association’s fundraising efforts. Applications received by the end of a calendar month will receive a response by the 15th of the following month.

What equipment is needed? Can we borrow equipment?

All players will need the following equipment:

● black helmet (stickers other than regulation stickers and player numbers should be removed from helmets)

● team socks (these can be purchased through Director)

Yes, we will have limited equipment that can be borrowed. There is also a swap at the beginning of each season for parents to collect used gear. We encourage you to hold onto any used gear and bring it to the swap on opening day in October.
